A skûtsje is a Frisian sailing boat of the type tjalk, originally an ordinary cargo boat, but today it is used for competition and one of the icons of Friesland. The highlight of the event, the matches of the twelve renowned skûtsjes from Friesland.The winners from IFKS (Iepen Fryske Kampioenskippen Skûtsjesilen) will leave Friesland and make their appearance in Rotterdam to compete for the Kralinger Cup, on the Kralingse Plas.

A new festival is born: Rotterdam Roof Days (´Dakendagen´), taking place from 11 till 14 June, offers a new perspective on the city and provides a meeting place for anyone who wants to experience Rotterdam as never before.
